Insurance Claims

Most insurance companies offer two ways of claiming for your pet’s medical bills – INDIRECT claims, which is where you settle any charges with the practice and the insurers will then reimburse YOU; and DIRECT claims, which is where the insurance company pay the PRACTICE directly (minus your policy’s excess charge and any deductions not covered by your policy). 

At Saxon Vets, indirect claims are our preferred method of claiming. We require a completed claim form, or your pet’s policy number and policyholder’s authorisation if your insurance company offers an online claiming service, and we will aim to process your claim within 3-5 working days of receipt of the required information. There is no charge for this service. 

If a direct claim is required for some larger treatment costs (over £500), then we require a pre-authorisation from your insurance company prior to treatment. Please be aware that not all insurance companies offer a pre-authorisation service, in which case we unfortunately cannot offer a direct claim. The charge for us processing a direct claim is £30 for the initial claim, and £5 for any subsequent claim relating to the same condition/treatment. There is no charge however if your pet is a member of the Healthy Pet Club. 

We appreciate that it can be difficult financially when an unexpected visit and treatment occurs. This is why we have partnered with Carefree Credit to be able to offer a further option to our clients, which can be taken out in conjunction with us making an indirect claim with your insurance.
